Hotel Review: Sheraton Rhodes Resort

Situated on the Greek Island of Rhodes, this luxurious 5-star hotel is just a short 3-minute stroll from the beach. Overlooking Ixia Beach, Sheraton Rhodes Resort is conveniently located 4 km from the historic medieval town of Rhodes. The resort boasts 5 indoor and outdoor pools, along with a fully equipped fitness center. Additionally, guests can enjoy exquisite dining experiences at 4 gourmet restaurants, a lounge bar, and a poolside bar.

All the air-conditioned rooms at Sheraton Rhodes Resort feature a furnished balcony offering views of the mountains, garden, or Aegean Sea. Each room is equipped with a small TV and a mini refrigerator. There are two specially adapted rooms for guests with limited mobility, both with balconies and views of the garden or mountains.

The accessible room on the 8th floor includes a bathroom with grabrails, a wall-mounted shower chair, and a barrier-free sink. However, the closet is not easily reachable due to the high clothing bar. The balcony features a ramp leading down to a small lower platform for outdoor enjoyment.

Breakfast and dinner are served at the Castellania Restaurant on the 6th floor, although access may be challenging due to the height of the serving tables. The restaurant floor also has a raised section that is not wheelchair-friendly. The attentive staff is always on hand to assist guests.

For sports enthusiasts, the hotel offers squash, tennis, and basketball courts, though access involves stairs. Kids can enjoy a variety of activities organized by the entertainment team at the kids' club, including dancing. Additionally, during peak season, live music performances are held a few nights a week.

Rhodes Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers a wealth of attractions and activities. The Rhodes Diagoras International Airport is conveniently located 15 km away, approximately a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

Complimentary private parking is available on-site, making it convenient for guests who choose to rent a car. There is also a designated disabled parking spot near the elevator with a ramp for easy access.

During my extended visit in July 2022, I found the staff to be extremely friendly and the hotel to be well-maintained. However, there are some areas where this hotel could enhance accessibility, such as improving access to the beach for wheelchair users (due to numerous stairs), providing more spacious showers, ensuring all decks with views are accessible via ramps, and offering additional room choices like sea view or suite options. Despite these points, it remains a pleasant hotel to stay at overall. For more insights, feel free to watch videos of my stays on YouTube.
